IMMEDIATE NEED REQUIRES STABLE JOB HISTORY - AT LEAST ONE YEAR AT EACH EMPLOYER Under close supervision, assembles and/or assists in assembling mechanical and electrical components as directed by work orders, using a variety of hand tools and portable power tools, in a timely, quality and cost-efficient manner. • Using blueprints, rough sketches, manuals, and/or verbal instructions, builds complete shipping assemblies. • Performs tasks that require the use of hand tools, power tools and forklift. • Procures materials, parts, tools, and subassemblies, as needed. • Works in a manner that maximizes the use of supplies and materials to prevent waste. • Performs work area cleanup and safety related duties. • Performs other related duties as assigned by management. • Complies with all General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies policies, procedures and regulations. • Maintains quality output while meeting department production requirements. • Works during scheduled hours. This position is with General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics Government Systems, Inc., but which operationally reports into General Dynamics C4 Systems, Inc. Machines and Equipment Involved: HAND TOOLS • Various wrenches, hammers • Screwdrivers • Cutting torch • Sledge hammers and mallets • Bearing presses • Come-a-longs and slings • Port-a-power • Snap ring pliers • Thread taps and drills POWER TOOLS • Hand drill and drill press • Bench and hand grinders • Saws-all • Pop rivet guns • Pneumatic impact tools • Circular saw MEASURING DEVICES • Tape measure • Rulers • Calipers • Micrometers USER-MOVED MOBILE EQUIP. • Overhead crane • Pallet jacks • Dollies USER-POWERED VEHICLES • Forklift truck • Knowledge of basic blueprint reading. • Working knowledge of electrical wiring. • Reading comprehension skills to understand work orders, written instructions, and prints. • Math skills to perform basic calculations. • Interpersonal skills to cooperate and work effectively with others. • Mechanical ability to understand the operation of equipment used in the department. • Good manual dexterity. • Ability to work under time pressure. • Ability to evaluate work conditions and quality of work.
