| Job Description |
General Dynamics C4 Systems' Battle Management Systems Division designs, develops, and integrates highly sophisticated command, control, and communications systems for the U.S. military, federal agencies, civil governments and related international customers. These state-of-the-art, integrated systems combine advanced visualization software and multi-sensor inputs to provide near real-time situational awareness to tactical decision makers. Our engineers help transform large amounts of complex data into useful information that is clearly and intuitively presented to end users, enabling them to make better-informed decisions. We design and develop systems and software for a wide range of global missions including: battle command; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; airspace management; crisis and emergency management; peace keeping and contingency operations; drug intervention, and public safety.
Experienced Engineering Project Leader with strong system engineering skills needed for the following:
- Technical Oversight: Provide strong technical direction by guiding the architecture definition, design/development, deployment and/or sustainment activities across projects. Ensure excellence in program execution by overseeing risk management activities and project technical, performance and cost metrics. Guide subcontractor management, change management and project planning and earned value management. Champion continuous process improvement.
- Strong Leadership: Keep teams motivated in challenging situations, and inspire excellence. Provide good judgment and the ability to make good decisions quickly and act on them with clear guidance and feedback.
- Support Business Development: Support business development activities including Independent Research and Development, system concept development, technical proposal writing and cost build-up. Support bookings, sales and margin goals. Engage in routine contact/travel to customers and partners.
- Workforce Champion: Provide for workforce capability, mentoring project personnel and providing for career development, compensation and recognition. Ensure effective and efficient resource usage across the program.
-Qualities: This position requires outstanding leadership, interpersonal, organizational, communication, management and administrative skills along with a wide technical base.
Successful candidates for this position:
Required:
- Must have a BS (MS desireable) engineering degree with at least 11 years of related experience leading large development programs required.
- Must have demonstrated success on large $100M+ DOD System Design and Development programs spanning all phases of Development, Integration, Test, and Sustainment for systems with hardware and software development content.
- Must have demonstrated effective leadership on integrated system development projects, managing a variety of major subcontracts and logistics aspects.
- Must have experience in situational battle field applications and systems.
- Must have strong written and oral communication skills to support interacting frequently with senior division management and customers.
- Must have skills in program scheduling, budgeting and reporting including Earned Value Management, and a sound understanding of the entire system development life-cycle and processes.
- Must have clearly and personally demonstrated ownership and success meeting objectives in a team environment
- Must have experienced and are open to change and new challenges (individually and organizationally).
- Must have experience in project reviews, program reviews, technical reviews, and bid and budget reviews.
Most have experience in one or more DoD communication systems, C2 systems, or C4ISR systems
Must be able to travel 20% of the time.
Secret level U.S. DoD security clearance, and U.S. Citizenship is required.
