General Dynamics C4 Systems' Battle Management Systems Division designs, develops, and integrates highly sophisticated command, control, and communications systems for the U.S. military, federal agencies, civil governments and related international customers. These state-of-the-art, integrated systems combine advanced visualization software and multi-sensor inputs to provide near real-time situational awareness to tactical decision makers. Our engineers help transform large amounts of complex data into useful information that is clearly and intuitively presented to end users, enabling them to make better-informed decisions. We design and develop systems and software for a wide range of global missions including: battle command; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; airspace management; crisis and emergency management; peace keeping and contingency operations; drug intervention, and public safety.

Our systems transform large amounts of complex data into useful information that is clearly and intuitively presented to the operators, enabling commanders to make informed decisions in real-time. We build systems for a wide range of global missions including wartime battlefield management, crisis management, peacekeeping and contingency operations, drug intervention, and public safety.
The systems analyst position is located at the General Dynamics facility in Huntsville, AL. The Technical documentation illustrator creates illustrations for proposals, presentations and manuals. Access and use source data from engineering databases; PRO E, CATIA, CONCEPT, etc., or any other customer deliverables to ensure clarity of content, consistency of format, accuracy of grammar, and compliance with current Industry and Government practices. Works independently. Applies working knowledge of technical literature and various style guides, including customer specifications, to documentation and publication standards. Participates in developing and maintaining technical manuals. Assists in validation/verification, discrepancies/deficiencies resolution, and accuracy/adequacy assessment of technical manual requirements.
BS in Engineering or computer science, BS, BA, BFA in advertising, art, journalism, communications, or equivalent, plus 6 or more years of directly related experience. Create illustrations for proposals, presentations and manuals Access and use source data from engineering databases; PRO E, CATIA, CONCEPT, etc. Adobe FrameMaker desktop publishing experience and MIL-STD-40051 knowledge preferred. Technical illustrator with minimum 3 years experience. Military hardware illustrating experience a plus. Experience with AutoCAD Inventor, Adobe Illustrator, and/or ArborText IsoDraw preferred. Prepares drafts of the documentation for peer review with the engineering staff. Conducts in-process reviews with customer.
Participates in verification of the documentation. Reports status, progress, and issues affecting assigned technical writing projects. Assists technical publications personnel in preparation of documents for delivery to customer. Studies data and conduct in-depth interviews with subject matter experts to understand the product or procedures. Produces or arranges for illustrations, charts, and photographs to be included in documentation.
Secret clearance or ability to acquire secret clearance required. Demonstrate a basic knowledge of technical illustrator conventions and processes. Exhibit a strong working knowledge of all Microsoft Office products.
Must be able to travel 20% of the time.
Secret level U.S. DoD security clearance, and U.S. Citizenship is required.
