General Dynamics C4 Systems' Battle Management Systems Division designs, develops, and integrates highly sophisticated command, control, and communications systems for the U.S. military, federal agencies, civil governments and related international customers. These state-of-the-art, integrated systems combine advanced visualization software and multi-sensor inputs to provide near real-time situational awareness to tactical decision makers. Our engineers help transform large amounts of complex data into useful information that is clearly and intuitively presented to end users, enabling them to make better-informed decisions. We design and develop systems and software for a wide range of global missions including: battle command; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; airspace management; crisis and emergency management; peace keeping and contingency operations; drug intervention, and public safety.
This position is for a Sr. Software Architect to perform tasks in the system definition, architecture development, requirements decomposition, software development and system integration and test over the multiple phases of a software intensive project. Skills needed include: Planning, designing, developing, testing, operating, maintaining, and documenting software or applications for software enhancements and new products. Researching and developing computer software systems, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. In addition, the candidate may be required to perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into software specifications. System integration and test skills needed include: Ability to analyze requirements, develop test strategies, write test cases to verify system-level requirements using simulation tools, develop detailed test procedures and test scripts, support creation of testable requirements, map test cases and scripts to documented requirements, review and release test documentation, assist in the configuration of test environments, provide root cause analysis of failures, develop test reports and work closely with software development, systems engineering and tool support teams. Software development experience is highly desirable in Java. Also experienced in triage when a test fails, demonstrate ability to differentiate between possible simulation error, environment issues, build failure, or end-product issue.
Position located at either Ft Wayne IN or Columbia MD.
BS Degree in software engineering +10 years of demonstrated results or equivalent experience is preferred. Advanced degree recommended. All candidates must have experience with software architecture development, software application design, implementation, and test of software using state-of-the-art technologies, methodologies, and development environments. Has extensive and demonstrated strengths and experience in the following areas: • Experienced in the use of Java, C++, Linux OS, VMWare and Eclipse. Understanding of service oriented/based architectures, OO design/programming is required. Experience using Rational ClearCase and ClearQuest is a plus. • Conduct Requirements Analysis and develop System level derived requirements and development of system requirements and design products such as Software Requirements Specifications (SRS), Interface Requirements Specifications (IRS), System Design Document (SDD), Interface Control Document (ICD), and Interface Design Document (IDD) • Conduct System functional analysis including trade studies and white paper analysis as needed • Support to the development team and integration team for software, test and integration challenges. • Knowledge of hard and soft real-time operating environments • Experienced with developing Test Plans, Test Procedures and Test Cases for relatively complex subsystems. Support creation of testable requirements, map test cases, and scripts to documented requirements. • Experienced using Telelogic's DOORs, the Rational tools Rose, ClearCase, ClearQuest and Subversion • Develop System Design using Unified Modeling Language (UML) design elements. • Experience in scripting (PERL, SHELL, TCL/TK, etc.) or simulation programming a plus Candidates must have demonstrated excellent oral/written communication skills, and interpersonal skills to support interaction with customer representatives, team members, and internal management. The candidate must have demonstrated an ability to work in a fast paced / dynamic team environment and possess time management skills to meet schedules. Additional Info: Travel to cross-functional sites may be required. Applicant must be capable of obtaining a US Security Clearance. Applicant must be a US Citizen. Applicant must be able to pass an extended background investigation (EBI) for this position.
