Job Description General Dynamics C4 Systems' Battle Management Systems Division designs, develops, and integrates highly sophisticated command, control, and communications systems for the U.S. military, federal agencies, civil governments and related international customers. These state-of-the-art, integrated systems combine advanced visualization software and multi-sensor inputs to provide near real-time situational awareness to tactical decision makers. Our engineers help transform large amounts of complex data into useful information that is clearly and intuitively presented to end users, enabling them to make better-informed decisions. We design and develop systems and software for a wide range of global missions including: battle command; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; airspace management; crisis and emergency management; peace keeping and contingency operations; drug intervention, and public safety.


Provides leadership for the software centric Systems Engineering and Test efforts for the Command Systems business unit in Fort Wayne, IN, which includes the full lifecycle of software development. Experienced Engineering Systems Engineering Leader with strong systems skills with experience executing Government Research and Development Projects and experience transitioning Research programs to production. Technical Oversight: Provide strong technical direction by guiding the architecture definition, design/development, deployment and/or sustainment activities across projects. Ensure excellence in program execution by overseeing risk management activities and project technical, performance and cost metrics. Directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering efforts for Systems Engineering, Integration and Test. Key domain experience with systems architectural vision to help create a Net Centric C2 application on a common framework that is integrated with C4S Networking capabilities. Solid understanding of Tactical Enterprise Networks and how to create solutions to grow this market area. Understands, evaluates and guides the technical focus of multiple projects or technical domains including Internal Research and Development and stays current on emerging technologies and integrates with GD processes and technologies. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. This position requires outstanding leadership, interpersonal, organizational, communication, management and administrative skills along with a wide technical base.

* Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related technical field required. Master of Science in Computer Science or other related technical field preferred. * 12 years in software system development activities. Must have successful past experience as a systems engineer and/or technical leader interfacing with Department of Defense customers and/or prime defense contractors on multi-million dollar projects. Must have demonstrated effective leadership on integrated system development projects and experience transitioning Government R&D programs to production. * Working knowledge of military command and control operational concepts required. * Experience in managing in a technical environment. Must have skills in program scheduling, budgeting and reporting including Earned Value Management, SPI/CPI performance and/or Cost Performance Reports and a sound understanding of the entire system development life-cycle and processes. Must have clearly and personally demonstrated ownership and success meeting objectives in a team environment. * Experience with C# and .NET a plus. * Has demonstrated strengths and experience in the following areas: • Experienced in the use of C#, AJAX, Relational Database development and MS Windows development. Experience with Windows Administration, Multi-threaded applications, sockets – TCP/IP, OO Javascript, GIS, distributed systems, cross-browser development, Flash a plus. Understanding of service oriented/based architectures, OO design/programming is a plus. Experienced using Telelogic's DOORs, the Rational tools Requisite Pro, Rhapsody, Subversion, ClearCase and ClearQuest a plus. Candidates must have demonstrated an ability to work in a fast paced / dynamic team environment and possess time management skills to meet schedules.* Applicant must have current US Security Clearance.

Must be able to travel 20% of the time.

Secret level U.S. DoD security clearance, and U.S. Citizenship is required.
