General Dynamics C4 Systems, based in Taunton, Massachusetts, offers mission-critical computing solutions for defense, government and commercial customers worldwide.

Customers can fulfill all of their computing and network needs with General Dynamics’ full line of tactical and mobile-rugged computing products, embedded network-centric computing systems, mobile servers and secure thin clients. Using General Dynamics’ technical services, customers can build and implement total solutions that meet their exact needs. These offerings include systems integration; wireless network design and integration; and worldwide end-to-end life cycle support.
Our customers include all branches of the U.S. military; public-safety organizations; and commercial field services in the insurance, communication, utilities, transportation and telecommunications industries worldwide.
This position will be responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial and DOD developoment programs. This is not the typical Program Management position, but one that requires hands-on involvement with internal and external team members and requires the ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment. Due to the nature of the business and size of the internal team, the selected candidate will drive successful execution through the use of strategic external partners.
The wireless Project Engineer is responsible for the technical implementation of all wireless technology and coordination of regulatory, conformance and carrier certification.
This position will work with a team of highly skilled engineers and developers in the development, test and certification of a wide range of wireless technologies. The selected candidate will manage external and carrier test labs and be responsible for tracking and resolving all issues while maintaining an aggressive delivery schedule.
Utilizing good business acumen, be able to discuss strategies, business process improvements and future relationship growth with industry leading vendors and service providers that will result in cost savings, reduced time-to-market and maintain the leading edge for GD-Itronix.
Using his/her knowledge of wireless standards (GSM, CDMA, WLAN, etc.) and technology trends, the candidate will develop technology roadmaps and influence wireless technology integration that will be implemented in mobile products for both the commercial and DoD markets.
Specifically:
• Develop wireless strategies by platform and by vertical market
• Create plans and schedules for wireless implementation
• Support and drive the carrier approvals of mobile devices
• Create and track compliance documents
• Specify and coordinate certification tests and trials
• Understand technology trends and work with marketing to drive competitive features
• Manage conformance tests and regulatory approvals (FCC, IC, etc)
• Work with RF engineers on antenna and RF requirements/design
• Obtain CTIA Certification as required
• Be a contributor of innovate and key market technologies/capabilities that differentiate GD-Itronix.
• Minimum of a BSEE but prefer MSEE
• Must be able to demonstrate antenna design experience and/or design theory.
• Must be able to demonstrate professional creation and public presentation of company and industry materials
• Demonstrate the ability to discuss all wireless theory at a technical level and translate to layman’s terms
• Proven track record of project management in the technical field
• Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects including P&L
• Ability to develop and present quarterly updates for executives in the wireless domain
• Existing relationships with carriers and test labs is a plus
Must be able to travel 20% of the time.
Applicant must be capable of obtaining a U.S. security clearance.
