General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies is positioned to provide solutions for global satellite and wireless communications requirements. Looking for a local candidate that can work f/t during summer and p/t during school year.
I. Summary:
The Engineering intern will work with the New Product Development department and the Manufacturing Engineering department. The New Product Development department is primarily involved in research, design and development, and improvement of new products. The Manufacturing Engineering department is primarily involved in support of the manufacturing department through the design and improvement of new or existing processes and products. The Engineering Intern will work closely with engineers from either department to participate in these functions as required by business needs.
Engineering Interns may be assigned to many other duties by management and are expected to take professional ownership of such assignments.
II. Essential Capabilities:
The Engineering Intern must be able to independently research solutions to difficult and unfamiliar problems and confidently communicate recommendations and solutions. He/she must be able to quickly learn the use of engineering tools.
III. Engineering Responsibilities:
The Engineering Intern may be responsible, under the supervision of engineers, for the various aspects of engineering including:
1. Digital Electronics Engineering
2. Communications Engineering
3. RF Engineering
4. Software Engineering
5. Firmware Engineering
6. Reliability Engineering
7. Systems Engineering
8. Industrial Design
9. Mechanical Design
10. Manufacturing Processes and Acceptance Criteria
11. Project Management
12. Any other required discipline
IV. Hours of Work:
Regular Hours: Summer 40 hours per week (7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday) Regular Hours: School Term 20 hours per week depending on class schedule.
Overtime Hours: As required based on meeting schedule and work load requirements.
V. Education/Experience:
Required: Junior or Senior student in pursuit of Bachelor of Science in Engineering
VI. Computer Skills:
Required: Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
Required: Other CAD software as required
