Software Asset Administrator is an individual who works with the IT Asset Management group. The primary functions of this position are to manage the software assets in a distributed computing environment. This includes, but is not limited to, the tracking of IT hardware/software licensing and maintenance renewals. Functions of the job include software procurement, licensing model enforcement, license tracking (employee termination/transfers), license and contract database entry/maintenance, database queries/reporting, license lifecycle management, maintenance and support renewals, purchase request processing, and interfacing with the vendors. This position will be working directly with employees to process software orders and renew hardware/software maintenance contracts. Candidates will be responsible for gathering reporting data from a diverse set of tools across regional and functional organizations. Organizing, preparing and developing effective business communications based on software and financial data globally for a senior management audience. Candidates will be analyzing various elements of software asset management data and financial data. Duties and Responsibilities • Maintain the asset management database containing all the information necessary for the lifecycle of an IT software asset. • Resolve discrepancies identified in asset management database • Maintain documentation relating to the software asset management process and procedures • Work together with IT, business, finance, procurement, legal departments, in providing reports that support the negotiating of vendor contracts and proposals to acquire software. • Managing and tracking software licenses, reviewing volume and purchase agreements to ensure license compliance. • Identify unlicensed software and communicate risk exposure. • Identify areas for cost savings on software licenses. • Ensure the receipt of license keys and maintain keys in asset database • Manage the validation of the asset management database records by performing a scheduled task to QA the data for errors. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Highly developed technology contract interpretation and contract management skills. • Extensive understanding of software licensing models, types and concepts. • Understanding of Contract Legal terms preferred. Knowledge of business operations, objectives, and strategies. • Understand business trends in the IT industry. • Highly developed oral and written communication skills. • Thorough math skills and accounting practice skills. • Proficiency with the use of computer systems, personal computers and software such as MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. • Ability to work under tight deadlines. • Must demonstrate analytical experience as well as a consistent attention to detail. • Must have the ability to communicate across multiple organizational layers.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience plus 8 years related experience, minimum 3 years in DOD environment preferred
