Knowledge of government contracting corporate and industry financial policies and practices.
Sound knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
Knowledge of internal cost and revenue accounting systems and interfaces.
Knowledge of systems development, implementation, and documentation methods.
Duties and Tasks
Forecasts or consolidates forecast data for management review
Leads and coordinates the processes and procedures for collecting, consolidating, analyzing, and developing departmental and capital budgets, Business Plan
Allocates monthly overhead costs and flow downs from cost pools to appropriate accounts, monitors rate performance to budget
Tracks capital expenditures and performs account reconciliations
Assists with forward pricing rates development and proposal activities by providing actual rates performance data analysis
Develops training materials, instructs and advises departments in the budgeting process, provides expertise in the selection of accounts appropriate to transactions
May determine the materiality of certain transactions
Analyzes account balances to ensure monthly account activity is reasonable, identify errors, and make certain Balance Sheet and Income Statements for assigned division are correct
Compares actual performance to budget and analyzes and reports variances for accounts reported on profit and loss and Balance Sheet statements
Assists with quarterly business review and operations review, and monthly financial review by coordinating and/or developing analyses and materials for management review
May coordinate the monthly and annual close process for area of assignment to include: interfacing with general ledger personnel for closing status, monitoring analyst inputs, preparing and issuing preliminary and final monthly reporting for analysts, preparing necessary closing journal entries
Resolves suspended labor charges for employee transfers, and uses experience to identify obvious errors
Performs ad hoc analysis and reporting of financial data as needed
Reports to Finance Manager
Performs analysis of moderate complexity
Standard practices and procedures are specific, detailed, and established, but the position will continuously improve and document new processes
Work is consultative in nature, advises departments on budgeting process and technical accounting issues
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience is required. In addition, a minimum of five years of directly related experience is required, a minimum of seven years of experience is preferred.
