Duties and Tasks
Manages the development, implementation and coordination of all company level communication programs with the goal of maintaining, establishing or repairing the image of the company among investors, customers, prospects, employees and the public. Management and implementation of these programs may include defining and influencing the communication process, including selecting and convening an integrated team to plan communication content, supervising the development of the content, and anticipating all communication needs. Overseeing the management and implementation of these communication programs cover a variety of venues including strategic planning; employee meetings; industry analysts briefings; tradeshows and conferences; media interviews; business-related communication campaign and strategic plans; crisis communication plans; acquisition or divestiture plans; community-related event planning; and customer meetings.

Lead and advocate through influence management and leadership the seamless delivery of harmonious messages to all audiences that do not conflict with stated business goals, policies or procedures, by working collaboratively and cross-functionally with all process and content owners.

At the direction of senior management, engage internal and external industry groups with the intent to share company information, provide insight on lessons learned, share knowledge and provide communication expertise. These may include defense industry association events such as tradeshows and conferences, new business proposal efforts, integrated internal and external project teams, analyst briefings and local or regional trade associations.

Provide leadership in setting the direction of company strategic communication based on evaluation of all communication programs to ensure the programs are working to continue to bolster target audience awareness, knowledge and preference for the company for its products and services in order to enhance reputational capital and to safeguard company perception.

Advocate through influence management and leadership, the development of measurable communication and campaign plans across the business to articulate business priorities and achieve business objectives.

Manage the creation, selection and frequency of public and virtual meetings by which senior management and designees communicate to audiences. This includes preparing presenters for success (such as presentation material and media training), creation of messages, selection of venue, invitation, establishment of communication objectives and follow-up. Such venues include high-profile internal meetings and public engagement opportunities.

Allocate and effectively manage communication department budgets.

Direct the analysis of target audience patterns and the action plans to enhance, protect or repair company reputation.

Lead all crisis management team communication activities including crisis plan implementation, meeting and expert communication guidance for exercises and real events.

Lead and advocate through influence management and leadership the seamless delivery of harmonious messages to all audiences that do not conflict with stated business goals, policies or procedures, by working collaboratively and cross-functionally with all process and content owners.

Lead and advocate joint promotional activities with counterparts from other divisions and external teammates in order to enhance company and corporate reputation.

Lead creative processes for the development of internal and external collateral material specifically in the area of strategic message to ensure all collateral supports stated business objectives.

Lead and advocate for a process of analysis of target audience patterns by way of focus groups, survey and measurement in order to cultivate the data needed to set a course for continuous improvement in tactics supporting the business’ strategic direction

Effectively manage the entire vendor selection process to augment department resources that ensure the company’s communication objectives are well supported.

Manage the work of internal staff, which includes personnel hiring, development, mentoring, leadership development, salary planning and all other related human activities.

Act as Point of Contact with Corporate Communications


Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in PR, Advertising, Journalism, Marketing, or Related Communications field or equivalent experience required. Advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 8
years of progressively more complex experience in Marketing Communication.

Must be able to travel 20% of the time
