Job Description General Dynamics Mission Systems, a market leader and technology innovator, is seeking talented professionals to deliver cutting edge solutions to our customers.


The CNC Programmer, under general supervision, provides computer programs and technical support for the various CNC machines located in Manufacturing.

 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Reads and interprets engineering drawings to understand fit and function of parts being manufactured on CNC equipment.
  • Prepare computer programs to control CNC machine operations using CAD/CAM terminal.
  • Provides technical support to the CNC operators.
  • Inspects the work process of the CNC machines.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Works with RF Design Engineers and Mechanical Design Staff to assist in Machine capabilities and tolerance of components.
  • Participate and collaborate on drawing review cycle (APQP).
  • Actively participate and troubleshoot errors in coding of first-time prove-out parts. Observe machine prove-out to check for accuracy of program if needed.
  • Assure program meets target cycle.

Accountability:

  • Efficient and cost effective CNC programs with accurate and current revisions.
  • Independent and timely completion of all required tasks.
  • Complies with all Company policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Works during scheduled hours.
  • Must be a team player and have the ability to work closely in a shop environment.
  • Support lean activities both within the Engineering group and the machine shop personnel.

This position is with General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics Government Systems, Inc., but which operationally reports into General Dynamics C4 Systems, Inc. Experience and Education

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• 3-5 years CNC Programming experience in a complex tight tolerance machining environment.
• Technical training on CNC programming and working knowledge of algebra and trigonometry.
• Experience in use of G-Code, CAD/CAM CNC, Solidworks, MasterCam X6 & simultaneous axis programming .
• Experience with PC software.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of recognized drawing/drafting practices and standards.
• Working knowledge of drafting and programming software and programming systems.
• Ability to learn the necessary CNC programming applications.

No Clearance Required.

Machines and Equipment Involved:
• CAD equipment
• PCs
• CNC machines
• Plotter and printer
• Precision tools - micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.


Relationships and Contacts:
• Internal: Daily contact with all departments within Manufacturing, Engineering; other departments as necessary. Must maintain good working relationship with co-workers and operators.

• External: May have periodic contact with vendors.
