Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Sr. Scientist will apply innovative technologies in physiology and medicine to diagnose, treat and rehabilitate injuries due to training and exercise and traumatic/combat related wounds. Conduct basic, applied and advanced research dealing with physiological responses to the stresses of military environments and the holistic responses to traumatic injury. Duties also include preparation of research reports, manuscripts for peer-review, and professional presentations, development and writing of grant proposals, and statistical analysis and interpretation of research findings.
PhD in Physiology required.
At least 2-3 years of post-graduate experience in development and testing in vitro and in vivo models is preferred. Specific experience in the fields of wound physiology and healing will be heavily weighted.
Standard medical research laboratory techniques including animal model development, use of testing methods such as LC/MS, GC/MS, genetic sequencing and cloning techniques, electrophysiology monitoring equipment, neurophysiology, tissue harvesting, basic statistical data analysis, and preparation of technical documents in the form of abstracts, briefings, posters, manuscripts for peer-review, reports, and grant proposals.
