Employee provides a wide range of senior level engineering and program management functions that may vary from designing simple solutions, managing the full lifecycle of large projects, or providing technical analysis of other departments' proposals. Individual is responsible for the selection, direction and performance of telecommunication engineering and analysis studies. Supervises and manages sustained engineering projects, test and evaluation programs, and performs normal engineering services (e.g., transmission, circuit design software). May conduct long-term strategic planning activities for LAN/WAN development and implementation, including transmission media, systems architecture and general technology guidelines. Analyzes and provides management with information on availability and pricing of telecommunication technology and services. Analyzes and evaluates existing communications networks and infrastructure. Calculates and recommends upgrades or restructuring of equipment or routing to meet emerging requirements. Has functional knowledge of satellite communications terminals, Net.com, Promina and AN/FCC-100 multiplexers, REDCOM and Nortel telephone switches, Cisco data network routers and switches, Dell network servers, fiber optic and copper cable, and signal/format adapting equipment. Requires BS degree in Electrical Engineering, from ABET School with a minimum of 10-15 years experience in operations, maintenance, and sustained engineering of LAN to WAN internet working. 10-15 years direct experience required. Candidate should have extensive knowledge of tactical and commercial transmission, data, and voice systems at circuit, trunk, and link level. Prefer Promina and FCC-100 experience; familiarity with copper, fiber, and RF transmission systems and with modems and signal converters and familiarity with NSA approval encryption devices. Secret Clearance The work is typically performed in an office environment, which requires normal safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment. |
