The Staff Network Engineer provides on-site systems and network engineering support to the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC). The Staff Network Engineer's duties will include but are not limited to the analysis, planning, design, development, operation, management, and maintenance of: • Enterprise backups using Backup Exec 12.5 to include offsite media handling, data and system recovery for Windows and Linux systems • Administration of Windows Server 2003 (2007) Windows 2003 Active Directory (AD) and Exchange 2003 • Administrative support for enterprise systems to include but not limited to: Tumbleweed FTP server, Blue Coat Proxy systems, MS SQL 2000 and 2005, Foundstone vulnerability manager, Symantec EndPoint protection, NetApp FAS File servers, Spectra T-50 tape library, HP Blade 7000 server systems and chassis, HP servers, Cisco Network gear to include Catalyst switches and routers, CA ServiceDesk, Citrix Gateway and Presentation Server version 4.0 and above, RSA server, management tools such as SolarWinds, OPManager, Windows SUS 3.0, Avaya Modular Messaging 3.1, and VMWare ESX server. • Write and update SOP's, build documents, design documents, system diagrams, change requests, incident, after action, and status reports. • Work with external vendors and government agencies such as Verizon, Oracle, and DOI to update firewall, DNS and routing policies and configurations on systems. • Support initiatives of the Manager of Technical Services (MTS), Manager of Business Systems (Applications), Configuration Manager, and Information Security Officer. • Perform capacity planning and optimization for systems and services. • Provide analysis and support for the acquisition of hardware, software, and services. • Implement and maintain security in accordance with federal and OPIC guidelines. • Provide guidance, technical direction and assistance to helpdesk and government staff. • Support special tasks as directed by the CIO. Requires BS/BA degree. Requires 5-8 years experience. Minimum requirements for this position are: • Bachelor's Degree in a Computer Science study or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, and experience • 2+ years of network administration experience to include at minimum MS Server 2003, AD and Exchange 2003, Cisco network administration, and enterprise backup. • Strong and demonstrated organizational, writing, and briefing skills. • Demonstrated strong abilities to interact with all levels government and contractor personnel. • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles, methods and technical skills pertaining to network engineering. • Demonstrated proficiency with network and server management tools. • Ability to hold a position of public trust. This position requires an ability to hold a position of public trust. Desired but not required are: • MCSE certification in Server 2003 and Exchange 2003 • CCNA or CCNP certification • ITIL certification |
