General Summary: This is a Network Engineer position for United States Battlefield Information Collection & Exploitation Systems (US BICES). Providing the design, implementation, and testing of data, video, voice, or composite-media communications networks. Candidate will provide Tier 2 & Tier 3 level support as required. Investigates reported problems using standard troubleshooting techniques. Works closely with other Tier 3 resources and external vendors to resolve reported problems. Works as a member of a project team. May be required to supervise other technical support personnel. Principal Duties/Responsibilities: -Primary focus on network administration and maintenance for the US BICES located at assigned site. -Candidate will be responsible for Cisco IP Telephony (IPT) implementations, LAN/WAN support, traffic analysis, troubleshooting low/medium/high level network outages for the customer and providing fix actions. -Provide engineering assistance with network designs and installations as needed. -Interface with multiple customers and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for government personnel operation of technical systems. -Thorough understanding of the following technologies: Routing (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP), switching technologies (STP, VTP, VSS), Layer3 switching, GRE, IPSEC, IP and Type 1 Encryption, ACLs, QOS, MPLS, VOIP, Multicast, IPTV, and additional features. -Maintain accurate site documentation. -Provide weekly reports. -Conduct site surveys. BA/BS Degree. CCNA certification required, CCNP preferred. Candidate must possess 3-5 years technical experience, minimum of 2 years experience in network environment, 2 years in enterprise networking. Applicant must have experience using network management tools and concepts. Ideal candidate will have experience with distributed network management suites, and must have configured the network management suite to the user's environment. Intelligence or Operations experience desirable. The desired candidate would have the following skills and abilities: -Focuses on the rapid, successful resolution of customer initiated work requests and may occasionally perform service related work outside the network field. -Demands positive responsiveness to customer requirements, priorities and mission accomplishment. -Skilled in the following applications and operating systems: Cisco IOS, Taclane GEM, Cisco LAN Management Solution (LMS), HP OpenView, SolarWinds, Windows OS with additional applications desirable. -Good writing and speaking skills are essential. -Strong problem solving skills needed. -Ability to plan and organize projects. -Customer service skills are a must. Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a Secret Security Clearance. Must be able to achieve ITIL Foundation and Security+ (or equivalent) Certification within six months of hire. The work is typically performed in an office environment, which requires normal safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of materials, boxes or equipment.
