Senior Virtualization Engineer who has with experience with VMWare, Blade Server technology, and Storage Area Networks (NetApp preferred) with a focus in implementation, installation, testing, troubleshooting, and some system design. Position will work on the Combat Information Transport System (CITS) Hardware System Integrator contract, and specifically on the CITS Virtualization Infrastructure. Candidate will need to have experience with LAN and WAN technologies interfacing with a virtual environment. Candidate will ensure the integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, survivability, and other requirements in supporting the onsite virtualization suite for the Air Force. Will work with a variety of industry vendors and DoD personnel and will assist with integration efforts when needed. Job Requirements · Design and build new virtual infrastructures - solid understanding of VMware ESX server and server hardware. · Identify and resolve virtual, network, and hardware related system performance problems · Perform troubleshooting activities to minimize impact to operations · Actively participate in planning, coordinating, and implementing Windows operating systems and applications · Working experience with server and client side architectures and systems design · Perform hardware upgrades and swaps · Interface with external venders as necessary and onsite customers as needed · Maintain knowledgebase of current technology with continuous self study · Perform other duties as assigned Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field; or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience is required. Requires 5-8 years experience. At least 3 to 5 years of experience directly related to the skills described above. Related Technical Skills · VMWare Server Virtualization Products - VMWare ESX servers, VMWare Virtual Center · Storage Area Networks, iSCSI, and NAS Solutions (familiarity with NetApp a plus) · HP Blade Enclosures and Blade Servers · Server Hardware (HP, Dell, Sun) · Backup solutions (Commvault, Veritas, StorageTek tape libraries) · Remote Access solutions - Microsoft Windows Server 2000/2003, Active Directory, Microsoft Virtual Server · Microsoft Visio Strong written/verbal communication skills, critical thinking, problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Candidate must have the ability to deal with customer issues and conflict in an appropriate, effective, and timely manner. Experience working for DoD, and in particular the Air Force, a plus. Active Secret Clearance or ability to obtain an Interim Secret Clearance . Some travel can be expected. |
