Job Description General Dynamics Information Technology is a top-tier IT integrator that provides information technology, systems engineering and professional services to customers in the defense, intelligence, homeland security, federal civil and commercial sectors. General Summary:

This position is for a dual-purpose System Engineer providing maintenance and user support for an ISRIS suites of equipment (Apple G5 or XServe computer, various network and video capture equipment). The candidate will fill a helpdesk position at the USJFCOM Suffolk site with periods of deployment away from this location (overseas and throughout CONUS). Candidate will provide Tier 1,2 and 3 level support as required. Investigates reported problems using standard troubleshooting techniques.
Principal Duties/Responsibilities:

-Primary focus on system administration and maintenance on the ISRIS architecture worldwide; providing helpdesk support as well as short-notice deployed support to other CONUS locations and OCONUS locations.
-Candidate will be responsible for server administration and maintenance, LAN/WAN support, troubleshooting low/medium/high level network outages for the customer and providing fix actions.
-Maintain accurate site documentation including system configuration data.
-Maintain OCONUS deployment readiness status. Anticipate OCONUS deployments on an "as-needed" basis for periods of one to three months duration.


BA/BS Degree, preferably IT related. UNIX experience required. Apple OS certification preferred.

Candidate must possess 3-5 years technical experience, minimum of 2 years experience Apple/UNIX system administration, 2 years in network environment, 2 years in enterprise networking.

The desired candidate would have the following skills and abilities:

-Focuses on the rapid, successful resolution of customer initiated work requests and may occasionally perform service related work outside the network field.
-Demands positive responsiveness to customer requirements, priorities and mission accomplishment.
-Good writing and speaking skills are essential.
-Strong problem solving skills needed.
-Ability to plan and organize projects.
-Customer service skills are a must.
-Prior OCONUS deployment experience with US Armed Forces or as a contractor preferred.


Candidate will work 5 days a week 8 hours a day while on the helpdesk, and 7 days a week, 12 hours a day while deployed. Candidate will be deployed to a hazardous duty zone.

Candidate must possess an active US Top Secret security clearance. Must be eligible for SCI security clearance.

Candidate must be willing/able to fly in helicopters
Candidate must be able to lift 50Lbs

Must be able to achieve ITIL Foundation within six months of hire.
