•Understand the standard repositories and configuration management process for customer documents
•Review current documentation and recommend revisions or changes in scope, formant, and content to meet customer needs.
•Confer with operations and engineers to become familiar with system purposes and technologies
•Observe O&M activities to determine and capture operating procedures and details
•Understand security details that make up customer's security plan for various projects so they can get approved with minimal issues
•Write documentation at appropriate reading levels
•Incorporate screen shots and diagrams where doing so will facilitate operator understanding
•Coordinate, schedule and facilitate the minimal number and length of meetings with appropriate parties to obtain the relevant knowledge for preparing deliverable
•Conduct live run-through or equivalent tabletop exercises of each completed deliverable for usability and comprehension by the intended audience
•The contractor shall deliver to the customer documentation that meets the task requirements defined below. In doing so, at a minimum:
•Within one month of contract start date, the contractor shall provide the customer a written list of current standard operating procedures (SOPs), administration and user guides, installation manuals, customer system security plans, and operations and maintenance (O&M) documents for the customer infrastructure
•Within two months of contract start date, the contractor shall provide the customer a proposed schedule to update documents identified in deliverable 1 above. At that time, the customer can make recommendations and prioritize work to meet is objectives
•Within two months of contract start date, the contractor shall define documentation templates for customer approval
•The contractor shall generate a per unit cost to update and create new documents and templates incorporating scope, size, complexity and approval process in price
•The contractor shall provide at least 80 updates to current documents using the per unit cost structure defined in the bullet above
•The contractor shall create a minimum of 40 new documents at a cost based upon per unit costs defined in bullet 4 above
•The contractor will provide bi-weekly (i.e. every other week) status reports.
•The contractor shall document work in a customer provided configuration management repository.
•The contractor shall work with engineers, project managers and O&M personnel to document standard operating procedures (SOPs), administration and user guides, installation manuals, computer security plans, and operations and maintenance (O&M) documents for the customer's infrastructure.
•The contractor shall work with the customer to document configuration and change management procedures
Bachelors Degree in English, Journalism or a related discipline.
8-10 years of related experience preparing and editing technical documentation. Candidates may be asked to provide writing samples prior to selection
•Solid writing skills a must
•Good listening skills
•Good interpersonal skills - The contractor must be able to work in a collaborative environment
•Knowledge of Information Technology (IT) Systems, management of IT systems and general Tier support requirements
•Knowledge of computer hardware, software and operating systems, including Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 7 and familiarity with Linux desired.
•Knowledge of Internet and Telecom technologies, security protocols and protocols, including FTP, SFTP, TCP/IP, POP3, SMTP.
•Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMWare, Vshpere, ESX, Etc..)
