Job Description General Dynamics Information Technology is a top-tier IT integrator that provides information technology, systems engineering and professional services to customers in the defense, intelligence, homeland security, federal civil and commercial sectors. Operate and maintain external communications and wide-area networking systems in support of Joint Warfighting Center (JWFC) exercise and everyday operations. Coordinate and implement necessary system modifications and reconfigurations to fulfill requirements. Coordinate and execute local and remote-site equipment set-up, configuration, and testing in support of JWFC external communications, VTC, and wide-area networking exercise support requirements. Provide inputs for communications annexes for exercise directives. Provide inputs on long-haul communications and wide-area networking technical programs for skill enhancement and team cross training. Monitor and troubleshoot internal communications in support of normal everyday operations. Monitor external, internal communications and wide-area networking systems performance during exercises and take corrective action when required. Support external communications and wide-area network testing. Provide technical assistance in JTEN network administration, management, operation and operational maintenance. Responsible for the design and development of voice, video, radio-frequency, and/or data communications networks. The communications technician is expected to travel to and operate independently at remote communications sites in and out CONUS. Travel may involve up to 30 consecutive days at a time and 120 days a year. The applicant is expected to support shift work as required. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.


Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

Minimum 6 years telecommunications experience. Applicant must be able to provide communications and technical support to customer and remote sites. Experience should include establishing and maintaining communications circuits and networks in support of customer requirements, as well as providing communications operations, maintenance and troubleshooting support.

Programming, operation, and maintenance of Voice over Internet Protocol call managers, switches and equipment. VoIP is a primary means of communication during training events. Applicant must be familiar with CISCO VoIP equipment and building call plans.
