 Job Responsibilities Schneider Electric is a market-leading supplier of electrical distribution industrial control and automation products, systems and services. Square D is the flagship brand of the North American Division, one of four geographic divisions of Schneider Electric, headquartered in Paris, France.

Schneider Electric currently has an opening for a Staff Electrical Engineer primarily responsible for all aspects of design and development of electronic controllers for products manufactured at Salem, OR location. Currently, the AccuSine Active Harmonic Filter product line and electronic switching modules are manufactured at this location.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include:
A. Provides engineering support for products to sustain manufacturing.
B. Participates in new product development.
C. Uses engineering techniques to solve complex problems while meeting time and cost constraints.
D. Conducts specification, design, analysis and development of engineering projects.
E. Evaluates and validates design alternatives to create optimum system designs.
F. Creates and updates necessary documentation
G. Keeps up with the latest technological developments to guide design efforts.
G. Maintains analytical approach towards problem solving and promotes engineering excellence

MSEE equivalent or advanced degree required with 5+ yrs. relevant experience in the design of controls for 3-phase high power inverters using state-of-the-art A/D and D/A conversion devices, DSP's/Embedded Controllers, FPGA's and associated components; Experience with controller development for applications such as active rectifiers/filters, motor drives or UPS.
firmware development for power electronics products using programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Assembly, etc.; analog and Digital circuit design/development; DFM/DFT, firmware development tools and simulation tools; familiarity with techniques such as digital filters, FFT and reference frame transformations; and, exposure to various HMI devices and communication protocols a plus. Ability to function with minimal supervision as well as may be responsible for work planning and task delegation of others.

LOCATION SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Work with high power (>25KVA) equipment supplied by 480V, 3-phase supply
2. Occasional travel (domestic and international) required.


PHYSICAL EQUIPMENT: ELECTRONIC DEVICES, SOFTWARE, MACHINES, TOOLS, ETC. USED IN THIS JOB:

Electrical measurement instruments (Oscilloscope, DMM, Spectrum Analyzer, Power Analyzer, etc.)

Software: DSP and Programmable logic design tools, PCB design software (e.g. OrCAD), circuit simulation software such as SPICE, Microsoft Office suite
