Schneider is currently recruiting qualified candidates for the position of Control Enclosure Design Engineer to design and implement solutions for industrial control and metering enclosures.


Job Description

The Enclosure Application Engineer will join a team of subject matter experts on all aspects of engineering industrial control panels and enclosures. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing enclosures of varying complexity from standard metering to custom PLC based control panels. The engineer will work with department project managers and other engineers to design solutions based on project specifications and industrial codes and standards.

The engineer will also have the following responsibilities:

• Review and apply industry and company codes and standards to control panel designs
• Provide training and support to Engineering Services department on standard solutions
• Assist with managing an enclosure design backlog
• Function as a technical resource for drafters, technicians, and project managers
• Manage relationships with suppliers to ensure process efficiency and product quality
• Assist the sales department with quotation support on custom solutions
• Assist the marketing department with the development of marketing material for standard offers


Qualifications, Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or substantial equivalent experience
• 5 - 10 years experience designing automation control panels including hardware selection and layout, power distribution and communications wiring and final testing.
• Extensive experience using AutoCAD 2008 or higher to build electrical schematics and enclosure layouts
• Familiarity with industrial control panel fabrication and installation processes
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with NEC and UL 508A codes and standards


Qualifications, Desired:

• Experience in the field of power monitoring and control
• Experience with communication protocols and architectures such as Modbus, ModbusTCP, RS-485, etc.
• Knowledgeable in computer networking architectures, topologies and hardware
• Experience with integrating devices from multiple vendors into packaged solution
• Experience with Modicon PLCs and PowerLogic energy management equipment
