| The Manager, Internal Communications (IC) is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of an internal communication program directed at helping connect our employees around the world to company strategy and direction through effective communication. Specifically, the role will focus on plans to improve our corporate communication channels and messaging to meet the diverse needs of our global workforce. St. Jude Medical is a highly decentralized and matrixed organization, and this role will work in partnership with our product and selling divisions as well as other key partners in Corporate Relations, HR, IT, etc. to help cultivate effective communication across the company. Essential Functions: • Communication Channels: Develop an effective framework to understand what communication vehicles and tactics work best across our diverse divisions and employee base (field, office, manufacturing, international geographies, etc.). Significant focus on electronic communication channels, driving the continued evolution of the intranet across St. Jude Medical and working closely with selling divisions to address the need for effective mobile communication solutions. Closely partner with HR and IT to understand and integrate our growing system capabilities to better target the right information to the right employees through the right channels. Recommend and may develop new communications channels, as needed • Communication Development: Work in close partnership with our PR & Communication managers, MarComm teams, HR and other key stakeholders in the management of an editorial planning process and the development of key communications focused on keeping employees informed, connected and educated about our company, our key initiatives and our impact on customers, patients and communities. This may also include targeted communication plans, issues communication or other general communication support for business needs such as the development of communication templates, tools and best practices • Leadership Messaging: The IC Manager will help drive the planning and execution of messaging strategies for our executive leadership and other divisional leaders as needed, including a monthly internal video program and a range of other customized tactics as needed. Efforts will also focus on supporting companywide initiatives to improve the communication skills of managers through a range of tactics, including the creation and roll-out of best practice tool kits Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications or related field • 7+ years internal communication experience • Excellent business writing skills for a variety of audiences and communications tools • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategic plans is required. This includes an understanding of the role of marketing and communications in contributing to the success of the overall organization • Ability to establish collaborative relationships with co-workers by successfully working with many types of people; this includes the corporate relations staff, corporate and divisional executives, and divisional marketing-communications personnel • Strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task and be flexible to changing needs of the organization • Strong aptitude for electronic and mobile communication applications Desired Qualifications: • Experience in the medical device industry |
