DTN/The Progressive Farmer currently has an outstanding opportunity for a motivated individual to assume the role of Data Center Specialist in our Burnsville, Minnesota location. This position will monitor real time weather data and support the systems and applications that ingest and generate weather products in a 24/7 Data Center. The Data Center Specialist will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving all issues in the Data Center as well as escalating and communicating critical issues to Data Developers, Customer Service, Management, and internal customers.

Responsibilities:
- Monitor real time incoming and outgoing weather data and products.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data ingest product generation, and data delivery issues in the Data Center.
- Log all problems in the shift summary website and send notifications as needed.
- Escalate issues to Data Developers and support teams.
- Escalate and communicate critical issues to Management, Customer Service, and internal customers as appropriate.
- Report data receive issues to data providers and work with their IT group to resolve issue.
- Report data delivery issues to external customers and work with their IT group to resolve issue.
- Respond to customer requests after hours.
- Perform distribution change requests from Customer Service, Data Development, and Met Operations.
- Rerun jobs, scripts, scheduled tasks, etc. as needed.
- Perform hourly checks of applications, systems, and online websites.

Requirements:
- Strong Unix/Linux and Windows skills
- Strong Troubleshooting and Problem Solving skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication (both oral and written) skills
- An adaptable and flexible self-starter
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
- Perform under pressure
- Work on weekends and holidays
- Must be flexible and able to cover other shifts as needed

This is a night shift position, the days are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and every other weekend. We are a 24/7 an operation center and so working on holidays is mandatory.



Hours:
Mon-Tues: 8pm-6am
Wed: 11pm-6am
Every other weekend: 5pm-6am

Education:
Associate's degree in computer related discipline. Two years of recent experience as a computer operator or related data center experience is preferred.
